APPROACHING CHI SAU.
CHI SAU is the Drill that Wing Chun is rightly famous for, a way to try to put in to some kind of practice the Theory that you are being introduced to in your training.
CHI SAU is usually introduced early in the training Cycle, and this often quite wrongly results in Students never understanding that CHI SAU is a discipline that come from the Chum Kiu Form, and not, as many tend to think, the Siu Nim Tao Form.
“When you do CHI SAU you are working on the Bridge that Chum Kiu is seeking!! If you cannot see this then you are simply not willing to look”.
I know that when it comes to understanding CHI SAU many Schools focus on the first Form, SIU NIM TAO, but in my opinion this is a misunderstanding, something was lost in translation, to understand CHI SAU fully you must use the knowledge gained from Chum Kiu.
Over the next few weeks I will cover some aspects of CHI SAU that many intermediate Students do not appear to understand fully, I will look at LAP SAU and GWOH SAU and hopefully show you a way to become proficient at Wing Chun that does not take a Lifetime.
As always feel free to share your thoughts on this matter, as long as there are no personal attacks or foul language I guarantee you I will post it, through honest conversation we can all move forwards.
