WING CHUN WEDNESDAY 11-12-2013

PUTTING THE 7th FORM TOGETHER.

This is a Video summary of the last two posts, you may find it useful to revisit the Posts before you view the Video, or at any rate read them again and review the Video directly afterwards.

Although I have thought in this way four quite a long time it is only in the last few years that I have begun to change the way I teach,  I have a couple of Private Students that I started their Instruction with the Long Pole, then moved to the Knives and then to the First Form {beginning S.N.T.} and if anything they have progressed much quicker than even I expected. With only 2 test subjects the results of this experiment may be misleading, there is of course the chance that they are naturally gifted, only time and more Guinea Pigs will tell.

My Sifu once told me that there is only 1 move in Wing Chun, and that in accordance with this thinking the Siu Nim Tao is everywhere, that is why I play with the progression of teaching, at one time Sifu Jim taught aspects of the Dummy Form before he taught Students the Chum Kiu Form so I am in no way trying to reinvent anything by taking this approach.

I am just trying to find a way that brings more effective results than the traditional “Body Up” method. I believe that we can learn a lot from the modern advancements of Sports Science and Accelerated Learning. Never forget that there was a time when Wing Chun was the Avant Garde´ of Martial Arts, flying in the Face of Traditional Kung Fu thinking.

I would appreciate some feed back from fellow Instructors.
